Business Administrative Services Courses
Career Preparation -This course focuses on three integrated areas of instruction–academic planning and career development, financial literacy, and technology. Course content ranges from college and career preparation to computer literacy skills to ways to manage personal finances and reduce personal risk. The area of technology is designed to be interwoven throughout course instruction. Mastery of the content standards provides a strong foundation for student acquisition of the skills, attitudes, and knowledge that enables them to achieve success in school, at work, and across the lifespan.
Business Software Applications II - This course focuses on advanced word processing and spreadsheet and database management skills using current and emerging integrated technology. These skills include a variety of input technologies in the production of professional quality business documents and reports. Performance and production skills for the co-curricular student organizations, DECA and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA-PBL), are embedded in this course. Students will also have the opportunity to gain industry-recognized credentials to document advanced computer skills needed for future education or employment plans.
Foundation of Business Leadership - focuses on the exploration of leadership and management to determine the impact of management practices on business and industry, management of expectations regarding legal and ethical behavior, and investigation of how resources are managed to achieve company goals. Standards are designed to emphasize principles of sound business management and analysis of business practices to determine ethical and social responsibilities.
Customer Service and Sales is a career-focused course designed to equip students with the communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills necessary for success in today’s service-driven economy. This course emphasizes professional behavior, customer engagement strategies, and ethical sales practices used in business and industry.
Students will develop skills in verbal and nonverbal communication, active listening, conflict resolution, and relationship building. Instruction includes greeting and assisting customers professionally, identifying customer needs, handling objections, closing sales, and maintaining long-term customer relationships. Students will also explore consumer behavior, marketing fundamentals, workplace expectations, and the role of technology in modern sales environments.
Through role-play simulations, real-world scenarios, project-based learning, and performance-based assessments, students gain hands-on experience that prepares them for careers in retail, marketing, hospitality, entrepreneurship, and business management.
Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) – is a career and technical student organization designed to prepare students for careers in business, leadership, and entrepreneurship. This course provides students with opportunities to develop essential workplace skills including leadership, communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and ethical decision-making.
Students will engage in real-world business applications through competitive events, project-based learning, community service initiatives, and professional networking experiences. Emphasis is placed on career exploration, public speaking, financial literacy, goal setting, and organizational management.
Through active participation in FBLA programs, conferences, and leadership activities at the local, state, and national levels, students gain practical experience that bridges classroom instruction with business and industry expectations. This course supports students in developing professionalism, personal responsibility, and a strong foundation for postsecondary education and career success.
